The driver of a Ford sport utility vehicle was arrested on drunken driving and other charges after police say he fled the scene of a minor wreck then flipped the SUV, injuring a pedestrian. (Michael Atkins/Savannah Morning News) A suspected drunken driver was arrested Sunday afternoon after he allegedly struck a pedestrian while fleeing the scene of an earlier wreck, according to Savannah-Chatham police. Brian Antonio Robinson, 38, was driving the Ford SUV when it was involved in a minor accident at Montgomery and Meding streets shortly before 1 p.m., police said. Fleeing south on Meding, Robinson lost control of the vehicle, which flipped and struck a pedestrian at the 58th Street intersection, said Gena Moore, metro police spokeswoman. A steel beam was also struck. The pedestrian, whose identity was not available, was taken to an area hospital with injuries described as not life-threatening. Robinson was taken to the Chatham County on charges that include leaving the scene of a wreck, driving under the influence, driving too fast for conditions and following another automobile too closely.
