Atlanta Teen Forced Into Labor After Hit-and-Run Crash

ATLANTA — Doctors forced a 17-year-old Nicole Holt into labor Sunday after the teen was hurt in a hit-and-run crash. The crash happened Saturday near the intersection of Moreland Ave and McDonough blvd in Southeast Atlanta. “She said she looked both ways before crossing the street and she almost had her foot on the sidewalk when a car hit her,” said Cornelia Holt, the victim’s sister.Nicole Holt was nine months pregnant at the time. Her sister said Nicole landed on her stomach after getting knocked in the air.“Her baby shifted to one side and stayed over there,” said Cornelia Holt. “She didn’t know if her baby was going to make it or not. Her baby stayed on one side and her other side went flat.”Nicole Holt was rushed to Grady Hospital where doctors discovered her hip was broken.“They didn’t know the status of the baby, so they had to do an emergency C-section,” Cornelia Holt said.Family members said baby and mom are OK.“When she held her baby, she was crying like real bad,” said Cornelia Holt. “She was happy because she didn’t think her baby was going to make it.”Meanwhile the search continues for the driver of the white SUV.
