1 injured, 1 dead in I-85 accident
Police have identified a man who was struck and killed by a Dodge pickup truck that was entering I-85 Saturday afternoon.The incident occurred just after noon Saturday. Gabriel J. Verrett of Stone Mountain was entering I-85 from Ga. 316 when she hit Randy J. Howard. Howard was the passenger of another vehicle stopped in the “gore area” of the highway, police said. He was standing outside of the vehicle at the time. Howard was transported to Gwinnett Medical Center, where he later died. Verrett was also transported to Gwinnett Medical where she was treated for minor injuries and released. The incident is still under investigation. No charges have been filed as of yet, police said.
