A Smyrna man remains hospitalized after a motorcycle crash in Canton that killed his wife. Michael Worley Hyde, 51, was working on a charity motorcycle ride for an injured Georgia Power co-worker at the time of the crash on Sunday afternoon. His wife, Charlene Hyde, 49, died at the scene. The couple was riding home from Ellijay where they were finalizing plans for the benefit event when Hyde lost control while driving southbound on Interstate 575. The motorcycle, which was part of a three-bike convoy, left the road and entered the median between exit 19 at Highway 20 and exit 20 at Riverstone Parkway, according to the Canton Police Department report. Both of the Hydes were thrown from the motorcycle. Hyde, who is being treated at Atlanta Medical Center, suffered serious injuries to one of his legs. The benefit he was helping to plan is for Kylan Warren, 25, a lineman who was burned over 80 percent of his body at a job site in Milton. The ride will take place on Saturday, starting at 10 a.m. at the Georgia Power Corporate Office in Atlanta and ending in Ellijay. The cost to participate is $25 per bike and $15 per passenger.
