DAWSONVILLE — Authorities are investigating a fatal wreck Tuesday morning on Ga. 9 at Veterans Memorial Park in Dawson County that involved a motorcycle and a Dawson County maintenance truck pulling a trailer. The driver of the motorcycle, William B. Chapman, 23, of Dawsonville, was taken to a local hospital where he died from his injuries, according to Cathy Brooks, spokeswoman for Dawson County government. A county facilities maintenance supervisor was driving the truck that collided with Chapman’s motorcycle, county officials said. Jim Ferrante, 41, has been employed by Dawson County for about six years. Dawson County Manager Kevin Tanner said Ferrante was distraught over the incident. Georgia State Patrol is investigating the wreck. “Our thoughts and prayers are with Mr. Chapman’s family and loved ones,” Brooks said. As of Tuesday afternoon, no charges had been filed in the case. The wreck is Dawson County’s third traffic death of 2010.
