By Denise Wong of WCTV:
Police have yet to make an arrest in a hit and run that killed a 56-year-old Tallahassee man over the weekend, but have a person-of-interest. Two days after Louis Cotton was killed by a hit and run driver, his family is remembering him as one of the kindest men they knew. “He was a fun loving person,” says his sister Sylvia Yeomans. On Monday, a dozen of his friends gathered outside his sister’s home in Quincy to talk about the man who put others first. “He was a good loving person,” says another sister, Lorene Cotton. “He had a family,” says Yeomans. “He had two sons and six grandchildren.” He also lived at The Shelter in Tallahassee. “He loved everybody at the shelter,” says Yeomans. “And everybody loved him.”
It was around 2:30 a.m. Saturday when tragedy struck. Cotton was crossing the intersection of West Tennessee at Brevard Street when he was hit by a car traveling east. Tallahassee Police were able to locate the vehicle. They have a person of interest, but have made no arrests. “I was upset and I’m still upset,” says Lorene Cotton. “We don’t still don’t know what will happen or whatever but you know we got to be patient. You know, so that’s what I’m trying to do. Be patient.” Police say the driver of the car left the scene but was located moments after the crash. Police have the suspect vehicle in custody. It’s a blue 2001 Chevy Cavalier. They say alcohol may have played a role in the accident.

During the course of the investigation the hit-and-run vehicle, a 2001 Chevrolet Cavalier, was identified and located. Additionally, a person of interest was identified and interviewed. This is a sad story. Unfortunately hit and run accidents happen every day in the U.S. and many involve alcohol. See this related story on a hit and run accident.
