County sees third school bus wreck
Georgia Lawyer: via News County sees third school bus wreck.
A Carroll County school bus carrying 15 students was involved in a two-vehicle crash on Hickory Level Road in Villa Rica this morning, the third wreck involving a county bus this month. Georgia State Trooper Richard Hodges said the school bus failed to yield the right of way when it pulled out of Evergreen Drive, heading west. A vehicle going east on Hickory Level Road then sideswiped the bus. “The collision was made pretty close to the center line, but still in the eastbound lane,” Hodges said. He said the female driver of the vehicle was taken to Tanner Medical Center/Villa Rica. Carroll County Schools Spokeswoman Elena Schulenburg said the students were on their way to Bay Springs Middle school. “All the kids are safe and were transported to Bay Springs Middle School, where they ate breakfast and returned to class as usual,” Schulenburg said. She said all the students were checked out and cleared by the school’s nurse. Hodges said the parents of four students picked them up from the school and took them to the hospital. But Schulenburg was only aware of three students who were picked up by their parents.
