LAWRENCEVILLE, Ga. — Gwinnett County police say a Gainesville man has been charged in connection with a highway accident that killed two brothers from Flowery Branch. Gwinnett County Police spokesman officer Brian Kelly says 18-year-old Villanel Arroyo was arrested Thursday on charges of vehicular homicide, reckless driving and aggressive driving. Kelly says Arroyo may have been racing the other vehicle in his pickup when the accident happened.
The accident occurred on Interstate 985 southbound early Sunday just south of the Hall County line. The victims were 23-year-old Paul Keys, who was driving his new Honda CRX, and 19-year-old Shawn Keys. The car ran off the road and burst into flames. Kelly says Arroyo is being held in the Gwinnett County jail on $102,000 bond.
