A motorist who made the fateful decision to drive into an apartment complex one afternoon two months ago has now been charged with vehicular homicide. Melodie Hardnett of Marietta was turning left into the Ashley Mill Apartments on Powder Springs Road when she collided with a motorcyclist, said Officer Joseph Hernandez of the Cobb County Police Department. Francis M. Fraval of Dallas, Ga., was flown to Grady Memorial Hospital with serious injuries. Police learned Monday that the 63-year-old died due to the injuries from the June 29 collision. Fraval was riding a 2005 Harley-Davidson south on Powder Springs Road just before 4:30 p.m. when Hardnett, 29, hit him while driving a silver 2007 Ford Focus, Hernandez said. Hardnett was charged with failure to yield while turning left and second degree vehicular homicide, Hernandez said.
