Teen girl dies in wreck; other driver has 2 previous DWIs
GASTON COUNTY, NC (WBTV) – The man allegedly involved in a wreck that killed a teen girl on Sunday has two previous DWI convictions, officials said. The wreck, which killed a 17-year-old girl from Bessemer City, happened in Gaston County on Dallas-Cherryville Highway around 9 p.m., authorities say. Authorities have not officially charged the other driver yet, but the NC Highway Patrol plans to consult with the Gaston County District Attorney Monday to see what charges will be filed in the wreck, which injured two other people. Howard Pasour, 28, of Bessemer City, was allegedly passing several vehicles when his vehicle collided with an Oldsmobile carrying three teens, the NC Highway Patrol said. The Highway Patrol said that driver of the vehicle that caused the wreck was drinking before Sunday’s crash. The Oldsmobile was driven by Victoria Elizabeth Iffergan, 19, of Bessemer City, authorities said. Laura Elizabeth Fortenberry, 17, was in the front passenger seat and died in the wreck, officials said. Evan Griffith, 17, was in the back seat. All three were taken to CMC Main in Charlotte. Pasour, who was convicted with DWI twice in 2008, was not injured.
