Man Found Dead On Campbellton Road
ATLANTA — An Atlanta woman spoke to Channel 2 Action News about the Memorial Day hit-and-run crash that killed her fiancé. Lajuan Washington’s body was found lying on Campbellton Road near I-285.Washington’s fiancée said the circumstances surrounding the case are bizarre and she plans to meet with detectives on Thursday.“He was a hard-working man, never bothered anybody. (He was an) honest guy who went to work and took care of his family,” said Washington’s fiancée Unique Allen. Allen and Washington have a 2-year-old son together.Police said Washington was found lying in the middle of Campbellton Road on Memorial Day. Officials said he was the victim of a hit-and-run.“It just doesn’t make sense. Somebody knows something, something went wrong, because there’s no reason he would be walking in the middle of the road,” said Allen.Police believe the person who hit Washington was in a Nissan Titan or possibly a Nissan Armada or Infiniti QX56. Authorities said the vehicle would have damage on the passenger side, including a missing side-view mirror.Washington’s white 1988 Ford Crown Victoria is missing. The missing car makes Allen think the case is more than a hit-and-run.“He never let anybody drive his car. He wouldn’t leave his car anywhere,” said Allen.For Allen, there are too many unanswered questions.“We had so many plans…we had so much to do together. It just doesn’t make sense,” said Allen.
