A man who was struck by a hit and run driver while riding his bicycle on Skipperton Road last month has died, according to the Bibb County Sheriff’s Office. Now, deputies say the man who hit him faces homicide charges. The Bibb County Sheriff’s Office says 37-year-old Myrtis Green was charged with serious injury by vehicle in May when his car hit 26-year-old Elbert Banks III while Banks was riding his bike on Skipperton Road. Deputies say Green left the scene of the accident, and they discovered Banks III near death on the side of the road May 20. Lieutenant George Meadows says Banks died Sunday morning after battling serious injuries from the crash. Meadows says deputies attempted to serve the arrest warrant on Myrtis Green Sunday morning but were unable to locate him. A news release says Green told the Bibb County Sheriff’s Office he would turn himself in. The Bibb County jail’s website says Green was booked into jail at 4:30 p.m. with no bond.
