Hit-and-run in front of Smyrna IHOP

Killed in Car Accidnet

via AJC.com.

After analyzing debris found at the scene of a Smyrna hit and run, police released the approximate year, make and model of the suspect vehicle Monday.Smyrna police are asking for the public’s help in identifying the car that hit and seriously injured Alex Langford, 17, in front of an International House of Pancakes restaurant on July 17, Officer Michael Smith said. Officers have determined that the suspect vehicle is a 2001 or 2002 white Chevrolet Camaro, a news release said. Debris and parts found at the scene indicate the collision caused substantial damage on the driver’s side of the vehicle, from the  front end down to the driver’s side door. The car also may be missing its driver’s side mirror. Alex Langford, of Cobb County, was seriously injured when she was hit by the suspect vehicle on Cobb Parkway. The car then left the scene shortly after midnight Saturday. Langford remained in critical condition late Sunday night at Grady Memorial Hospital. Her father, Andre Langford, told the AJC the day of the incident that it’s still too soon to know whether or not his daughter will survive her injuries. Alex Langford apparently got out of a friend’s vehicle to get a dog that had jumped out of the car, her father said. A car apparently collided with the car Alex was a passenger in, then hit Alex as it left the scene, he said. Alex suffered a fractured pelvis and has internal bleeding, her father told the AJC. The teenager will be a senior at Campbell High School, where her father said she is a straight-A student who wants to become a doctor. “Her dream is to go to Emory and become a brain surgeon,” Andre Langford said. Anyone with information about the incident is asked to call Smyrna police at 770-434-6666 or 770-434-9481.
